Well the short answer is NO. Google is not just a search engine any more but a collection of many different products, from Gmail to Analytics and everything in between. Google plus should not be seen in terms of a standalone social media platform but your profile in the Google world, after all it’s the product that ties all the services together and allows you to access them.
Google is all about data, and keeping access to its products under an individual’s profile allows Google to better understand their customers and improve their products. So while we would expect Google plus will evolve over the next few years, we would not expect to be writing the obituary for this part of the Google family just yet.
